Reconstruction procedures
Breast Reconstruction
Breast cancer is unfortunately common in Australia, and breast reconstruction is an essential part of a woman’s treatment plan and should always be considered when breast cancer surgery is required.
The procedure can create a breast that resembles a natural breast in appearance and form. Breast reconstruction is a physically and emotionally rewarding procedure for a woman who has lost a breast due to cancer or other condition.
A partial or total mastectomy may benefit from reconstruction, using a woman’s own tissues, carefully selected breast implants or a combination of both.
Whilst working overseas Dr Chopra focused his additional training on the various techniques for reconstruction including fat transfer. He is also part of multiple trials looking at breast reconstruction using fat alone. This innovative process involves liposuction to remove fat and injection to add it to the reconstructed breast.
Perineal Reconstruction
Dr Chopra has extensive experience in reconstructive surgery of the perineum such as gynaecological cancers and major pelvic colorectal surgery.
